International Workshop on “Patenting for Economic Growth: Opportunities and Challenges” during October 24-25, 2024 in Virtual-Mode

The National Science and Technology Commission (NASTEC) is the focal point of the Center for Science and Technology of Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries (NAM S&T Center), India. NASTEC provides training opportunities for scientists and technologists in Sri Lanka with the respective announcement released by the NAM S&T Centre to its member countries.

The NAM S&T Center has forwarded an announcement on the International Workshop on “Patenting for Economic Growth: Opportunities and Challenges” and invites applications for the same. The event will be conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science & Technology, Phoenix, Republic of Mauritius, and will be held during October 24-25, 2024 in Virtual-Mode.

NASTEC is pleased to circulate this announcement by inviting interested individuals to apply. The deadline for submission of applications to attend the program is September 23, 2024. Applying for participation in the program should be done by sending the filled application form attached below to be endorsed by NASTEC. To receive the endorsement from NASTEC which is the focal point of the NAM center, please send us your filled application and other relevant documents indicated below also with NASTEC Annexure 01 (attached) to nastecnam@gmail.com on or before September 18, 2024. Please note that the application should be certified by your Head of Institute (Please refer to NASTEC Annexure 01). NASTEC will be forwarding the applications to the NAM S&T Centre with the endorsement.

The following documents must be submitted as e-mail attachments:

  1. a) Filled in Application Form (Blank form enclosed).
  2. b) An Opinion (a short paragraph; in MS Word format) on how you qualify to participate in the Workshop.
  3. c) A short CV about 200-250 words (Max.) highlighting education, professional background and experience of the applicant (in MS-Word format).
  4. d) An Abstract (about 300 words, in MS-Word only) of the Paper that would be presented at the Workshop.

There is no registration fee for the participants from the Member Countries and S&T-Industry Network Member Agencies of the NAM S&T Centre provided the application is endorsed by the Focal Point of the NAM S&T Centre in their respective countries / Network organizations.

Selection of applicants will be made based on their academic and professional background, relevance of their current engagements in the relevant field and the abstract of the paper submitted by them.
