International Conference on “Integrated Responses to the Intensification of Extreme Climate and Weather Events in Developing Economies” during 22-24 May 2024, Stellenbosch, South Africa

The National Science and Technology Commission (NASTEC) is the focal point of the Center for Science and Technology of Non-Aligned and Other Developing Countries (NAM S&T Center), India. NASTEC provides training opportunities for scientists and technologists in Sri Lanka with the respective announcement released by the NAM S&T Centre to its member countries.

The NAM S&T Center has forwarded an announcement on the International Conference on “Integrated Responses to the Intensification of Extreme Climate and Weather Events in Developing Economies” and invites applications for the same. The event will be conducted in collaboration with the School for Climate Studies, University of Stellenbosch (SU), South Africa; Alliance for Collaboration on Climate and Earth Systems Science (ACCESS), South Africa; and the Scientific Committee on Problems of the Environment (SCOPE), Delft, the Netherlands, and will be held during 22-24 May 2024, in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

NASTEC is pleased to circulate this announcement by inviting interested individuals to apply. The deadline for submission of applications to attend the Workshop is 19th April 2024. Applying for participation in the Workshop should be done by sending the filled application form attached below to be endorsed by NASTEC. To receive the endorsement from NASTEC which is the focal point of NAM center, please send us your filled application and other relevant documents indicated below also with NASTEC Annexure 01 (attached) to nastecnam@gmail.com on or before 17th April 2024. Please note that application should be certified by your Head of Institute (Please refer NASTEC Annexure 01). NASTEC will be forwarding the applications to the NAM S&T Centre with the endorsement.

The following documents must be submitted as e-mail attachments:

  1. a) Filled in the Application Form (enclosed along with the announcement brochure).
  2. b) A Write-up (a short paragraph) on what qualifies the applicant to attend the Conference.
  3. c) A Short Biography (to be written in third person) highlighting the current engagement, area of expertise, major achievements, academic qualification and professional experience as succinctly as possible.
  4. d) An Abstract (about 250-300 words, in MS-Word document) of the Paper that is proposed to be presented by the applicant at the Conference.
  5. e) A Copy of the relevant pages of valid Passport.

Free local hospitality, including accommodation and meals will be provided to all the NAM S&T Centre sponsored foreign participants from May 21, 2024 (noon) to May 25, 2024 (noon) [i.e. from one day before to one day after the completion of the Conference]. The participants should arrange their flight schedules accordingly; otherwise they will have to make their own arrangement of stay beyond these days. Kindly note that the selected applicant will have to make their own arrangement for international travel and will also be required to pay in advance a Processing Fee of US $500 to the NAM S&T Centre.

Selection of applicants will be made purely on the basis of their academic and professional background and relevance of their current engagements in the relevant field, and also the quality of the abstract of paper submitted. For more information, please refer to the attached brochure.
